Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the individual draws blood via Venipuncture or skin puncture on adults and elders, Obtains urine samples and collects various samples for culture. Explains safety protocols and procedures to patients. Performs clerical duties related to printing and distribution of patient reports. Is responsible for daily quality measures of Point of Care testing and annual POCT competency of colleagues (with final oversight by Nurse Manager). Meets with MGH central lab to prepare for annual CLIO lab evaluation
Performs venipuncture and skin puncture on adult patients.
Graduate of high school
Phlebotomy Certification
A minimum of 1year previous experience in phlebotomy
WORKING CONDITIONS
Patient care in an out-patient, academic, primary care setting.
