In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver the next generation Compute Infrastructure for LinkedIn. This is a highly visible leadership role aligned with the top company priority to accelerate our tech transformations to power LinkedIn’s future growth. As the engineering manager for the stateful scheduler team, you will be owning the delivery of a new and innovative Kubernetes operator to deploy and manage LinkedIn’s stateful systems like Espresso, Kafka, Pinot, Spark shuffle service and many more. Stateful services are distributed systems that have unique requirements like in-place upgrades, custom ordering of updates, custom safety checks, emergency break glass controls and many more.
Responsibilities
Own the delivery of the Kubernetes stateful operator
Align team to Kubernetes operator development best practices, build Kubernetes expertise within the team
Migrating stateful services from the existing compute pools onto Kubernetes clusters leveraging the stateful operator
Shape the product roadmap by understanding the customer base, their requirements and their onboarding/migration plan
People leadership, product management, customer advocacy and collaborative execution along with customer teams and other Compute Infrastructure teams.
Basic Qualifications
BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years’ experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering
2+ years of experience in software engineering management.
Experience in hiring, mentoring, coaching and developing top engineering talent.
Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages (Java/CPP/Scala/etc.) and distributed systems concepts.
Hands on experience developing distributed systems, databases, or other large scale data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in building and running distributed large-scale systems in production (24×7).
Experience with Kubernetes
Strong management skills for planning and executing complex multi-team projects.
Experience in working on Compute Infrastructure (Kubernetes, containerization, Cloud computing) Experience in working on Cloud Distributed Storage/Databases and/or data technologies that power analytics (e.g. Pinot, Druid, Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Kafka, Flink, etc or similar technologies)
Understanding of databases (relational, key/value, document, columnar, olap, graph)
Experience in full lifecycle of building, deploying, and maintaining a large scale public cloud service on AWS, Azure, etc.
Experience with open source project management and governance is a big plus.

The pay range for this role is $156,000 to $255,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
