Gorans Brothers is looking to fill a full-time position for General Labor: Turkey Grower. The Turkey Grower position is primarily responsible for daily turkey grower barn chores and reporting to the Grower Supervisor. We are looking for highly motivated people who desire to work on a turkey farm that values excellent character and work ethic in the Willmar area.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Meet expectations on the Level 2 Skill Assessment
- Complete checklist with daily, weekly, monthly tasks
- Communicate effectively with Grower Supervisor
- Communicate with Maintenance Manager with needed repairs and materials.
- Follow bio-security policy and animal welfare practices.
- Follow safety procedures
- Champion overall bird health and livability
- Cooperate with other growers
- Pick up mortality and keep accurate records
- Ensure birds have feed and water at all times, order feed as needed
- Maintain barn conditions – bedding, tilling, etc.
- Adjust barn climate – temperature, curtains, fans, ventilation, etc.
- Maintain a clean environment – barns, service rooms, feed tanks, yard, barn equipment, etc.
- Supervise load out
- Prepare barns for new flocks – cleanout, sweeping, disinfecting, repair, etc.
Qualifications:
- Experience operating skid loader
- Mechanical skills
- Carpentry skills a plus
- Valid Drivers License
- U.S. work authorization (Required)
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
- Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit.
- Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Regular weekend work is required.
