Job Description
Laurel Ridge Community College is accepting applications for adjunct, part-time faculty
(day, evening and weekend) positions for Education. Adjunct Faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed.
Responsibilities include teaching college level courses, which may include distance learning on and off campus courses during the day,
evening and weekends. This position will be located on the Middletown Campus, Fauquier Campus, and Luray-Page County Center as needed.
Adjunct/Continuing Education Faculty listings are on a continuous, open until filled basis. Applicants will be contacted on an as
needed basis. Submission of on-line application must also include unofficial transcripts of all college work completed (cover letters and
resumes are optional, but recommended).
Job Description
1. Teaching: Creating a learning environment that
facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject. Teaching encompasses four components: Instructional Design,
Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise.
2. Scholarly and Creative
Engagement: Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, participation
in professional organizations, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity.

Institutional Responsibility: Performing assigned or presumed duties according to one’s role at the college. These
activities support and advance both the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. These
responsibilities include: participate in the college’s development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participate in
required department, committee, and college meetings; adhere to college and VCCS policies; perform assigned duties; and maintain a collegial
working relationship with faculty, and staff.
4. Service: Quality participation and commitment to
students, college and/or community organizations, which is an expectation of one’s activities as a professional educator. Activities in this
domain are differentiated college representation, college citizenship and community citizenship.
Compensation
and Benefits:
Adjunct/Continuing Education Faculty: The rate per credit hour will commensurate with education and relevant or
teaching experience. The position is part time and as such is not eligible for health or leave benefits. However, the position may offer
educational benefits through our professional development and educational assistance
policies.
Telework
According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking, effective
July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for
certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads
