The primary responsibility of the 2nd Shift Fleet Mechanic is to diagnose, service and repair various systems that are found on pieces of Diesel rigs and heavy equipment such as mechanical and electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, pneumatic systems, and upkeep on fleet trailers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes and failure analysis
Perform routine brake inspections/adjustments on commercial vehicle following Federal DOT requirements
Perform inspections on all drop deck trailers and flat beds
Change trailer and truck tires as needed
Input daily repair reports into software-based tracking program
Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment
Order parts from approved vendors and drive company pick-up to pick up parts as needed
Inspect vehicles and equipment for needed repairs and perform repairs
Inspect, charge and replace batteries
Change and repair tires
Pack and replace wheel bearings
Replace shocks, fan belts, radiator hoses, etc
Conduct tune up and repairs
May fabricate and modify body parts and equipment
Repair and overhaul brakes, ignition systems, electrical systems, differentials and hydraulic systems
Supports all additional tasks directed by the production manager
Qualifications and Requirements:
Clean DMV record is a must. Class A CDL preferred not required.
Training or experience as Diesel mechanic
Strong mechanical background
Ability to work independently
Position is night shift only
