Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Structural Engineer, we’ll count on you to:
*Provide design review of Structural Engineering products in support of the Engineering and Design Team for activities and tenants for a broad range of facilities and a variety of markets
*Provide technical support of assigned projects that will vary in type and magnitude including structures and related work such as office and industrial buildings, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal, Resources, Transportation, Health Care, Technology/ Media/Telecommunications, Financial Institutions, and Commercial. Projects may be in the $5M to $400M range.
*Review technical reports, RFIs, designs, design changes for both design-build and design bid build projects, project deliverables, submittal, cost proposals from contractors, and etc. to ensure compliance with customer and RFP requirements.
*Provide technical support for the review of the plans, design and construction submittals, and field inspections.
*Mentor and guide junior staff and EITs.
*Perform field investigations, including the review of as-builts, to determine existing conditions, document findings, and provide a report to include written summary of the observations, data collected and photographs.
*Coordinate with team members to execute project scope, schedules, and budgets in conformance with the project and customer requirements.
*Facilitate the minimization of project delays.
*Research codes, guidance, policies, procedures, processes, criteria and Federal laws and regulations and provide sound technical recommendations in writing.
*Be called upon to investigate or evaluate structural issues and concerns in existing facilities, and to develop reports that include recommendations and options for remediation or corrective measures as applicable.
*Perform reviews and checking of projects prepared by in-house engineers and architects.
*Coordinate with the Government clients, team members, leadership, project stakeholders, and various regulatory agencies. Coordinate and hold meetings, determine requirements, coordinate workflow processes, schedule/coordinate plans of actions and milestones and inform all personnel. Provide written minutes for all meetings.
*Reviews submittals and ensures that comments are resolved and incorporated into the design.
*Ensure that requests for deviations or changes to any terms and conditions of the contract are coordinated and approved, as appropriate. When necessary, visits construction sites to resolve construction issues. Makes recommendations to the Government for corrective/preventative measures as appropriate, and prepares sketches or change order drawings, cost estimates and specifications. Assists with construction quality assurance by performing code required special inspections or required structural observation.
*Provide technical support for the review of the design and construction submittals, and field inspections.
*Assists with and leads proposals to provide professional services. Able to develop project budgets and schedules.
* Perform other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or master’s degree in Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis
* A minimum of 10+ years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
* PE
* Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
* Experience in design calculations and layouts
* Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
* Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
* Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
* Fully vaccinated for COVID-19. This position requires onsite client visits, or, this position will be co-located at the client site. The client requires all contractors/consultants/vendors who work or visit the site be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
* Master’s degree with Structural emphasis
* Licensed Washington SE
* Experience with ASCE 41 seismic retrofit design
* Experience with ACI 350 structures
* Experience with structural condition assessment, repair, and rehabilitation
* Strong knowledge of structural modeling software such as RISA 3D, SAP 2000 or other 3D analysis and finite element modeling software.

Typical starting pay range for this position is $119,462 – $170,660 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
