Supports the emergency room in regards to the management of psychiatric patients. The clinician will work as a team with the ER physician and nurse in regards to the assessment and treatment planning for all patients who present with a primary psychiatric diagnosis or substance abuse problem. Must interact with outside agencies to manage treatment planning, transfers and discharges.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Clinician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Assessments are completed on all referrals in timely and clinically appropriate manner. They will include complete psychosocial assessments that include assessment for risk, consult with family or SO as well as appropriate diagnosis. Consultation the appropriate parties will take place based on complexity of cases
2. Documentation will be complete including all appropriate diagnoses. Progress notes will be complete on all patients that will include all contacts made on behalf of the patient or institution.
3. Discharge plans will be completed on all patients and will documented in the chart. Insurance precertification will be completed and documented
4. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
5. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Masters degree (MSW , MA or MS )
2. Employee must have experience in assessment and treatment plan development for patients presenting with a mental health and/or substance abuse problems.
3. Computer skills
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Minimum of 0-2 years experience working in a hospital setting.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Licensure preferred.
