Licensure Coordinator
The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development invites applications for a Licensure Coordinator. About the Position:
Responsible for: 1) researching and verifying student completion of a state-approved educator preparation program in a variety of professional domains (i.e., teacher, counselor, school psychologist, specialist, administration, and supervision); 2) facilitating the licensure application process for Mason program completers (and associated coding in the Ellucian Banner system); 3) responding to special requests from individuals, school divisions, and state departments of education; 4) advising both potential and current licensure students; 5) working with program faculty and leadership on the development of new licensure courses and programs; and 6) providing guidance on application of the Virginia Department of Education regulations pertaining to both state-approved educator preparation programs and licensure.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and a strong profile of professional skills and dispositions, including being detail-oriented, able to prioritize competing tasks, capable of monitoring and improving on complex processes, willingness to take initiative both independently and in a team environment, and having the skills needed to facilitate multilevel processes from initiation through completion in a timely and accurate manner. Also required are excellent communication skills on the phone, in person and in writing; as well as work experience in a high-profile, high-stress environment while maintaining a persistently positive customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include licensure and teacher education process knowledge related to commonwealth of Virginia state licensure requirements, and experience in professional roles involving the application of such knowledge.
