Position needing to be filled from time of hire (ASAP) to End of September/ Early October.
GCI’s Laborer, Remote Camp will perform retreat operations functions including grounds keeping, waste disposal, building maintenance, and general cleaning duties. Also responsible for light equipment maintenance, fuel tank monitoring, and some fuel transfer duties. Assist in loading and unloading supplies and guest baggage from airplanes and boats. Interacts with guests and assist them in taking advantage of Retreat activities.

Certifications: Within one month of hire: Completion of company provided First Aid/CPR/AED training.

Physical Requirements:Must be capable of performing a variety of physical functions involving lifting and carrying loads up to 70 lbs. following company guidelines, efficiently and safely entering and exiting aircraft, boats and other motorized equipment, operation of 6-wheeler, 4-wheeler and Bobcat, climbing ladders to heights of 20 feet, and operating an outboard motorboat. Must be physically able to perform routine grounds keeping functions that require, lawn mowing, digging/shoveling, raking, and carrying, lifting, climbing and similar activities.
Working Conditions: Must live and work at a remote Retreat location (with employer provided room and board) for a period of approximately 5 months. Work schedule is 7 days per week. Most duties are performed outside with exposure to weather, fuels, solvents, and chemicals.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
