The Fabric Manager is responsible for quality approval on all fabrics related to pre-production stages as well as collaborate with Sr. Sourcing Director on new material development and adoption. This is a great opportunity to work with leading global brand. The ideal candidate will need strong aesthetic for color, monitor product integrity in keeping with timely delivery. The successful individual must be a textile professional and have sound fabric knowledge and good knowledge of quality management.
Skills and Experience· Communicate production and materials technical quality standards. · Offer expertise on fabric construction, component/fabric innovation and technical aspects to internal team, suppliers and factories. · Review and approve all fabric-shipping samples for the division assigned. This includes but not limited to: lab-dips, handlooms, strike-off and final bulk cut review. · Assist Sourcing Director, Production Director and Creative Director to initiate and drive fabric adoption process for various product categories. · Regular communication/touch bases with management to review issues, challenges and directives as it relates to all fabric facets of the product. · Analyze fabric test reports to ensure company guideline/standards are met and send approval comments. · Daily updating, maintaining of the fabric development T&A and Fabric chart.· Partner with Fabric management to develop and maintain working relationships with mills/vendors globally. · Organization and maintain fabric library & resources in respective area.
Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in textiles or design or equivalent experience preferred· Minimum 8-10 years in apparel industry and/or in textiles industry working with fabrics · Experience in fabric adoption and quality control process within a product lifecycle. · Very detail oriented and ability to drive to completion with strong communication, organizational, and problem solving skills· Clear understanding of general fabric development and quality processes. · Solid fabric construction knowledge across a specialized area (i.e. woven, knit, yearn, trim) and general fabric construction understanding across woven and knits· Clear understanding of dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques· Computer literate in Microsoft office programs and fashion base computer applications.
