Job Summary

Student teaching supervisors are needed for secondary student teachers getting licensed in English and Social Studies.

Essential Functions

• The supervisor must observe the student teacher six times.
• Placements are within a 25-mile radius of Elmhurst University.
• Must have had experience teaching high school English or a Social Studies area.
• Supervisors collaborate with the cooperating teacher to provide mentoring and support to the student teacher and mediate the best resolution to problems if they arise.
• Attends required professional development and program planning sessions offered through the School of Education.
• Completes all required online training for Elmhurst University.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of five years teaching and/or administrative experience;
• Must have been a licensed teacher and/or administrator;
• Advanced degree in Education;
• Demonstrates supervisory knowledge related to secondary content areas and pedagogy;
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work positively with students, teachers, and administrative leadership;
• Flexible daytime hours.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object.
