Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Division of Academic Affairs provides leadership in developing and maintaining
quality academic programs and support services that contribute to the achievement of the university’s mission. The division strives to be
recognized as a student-centered university with emphasis on excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarly activities; commitment to total
student development; and outstanding service and engagement with local, regional, national, and global
communities.
Description of Work
The Director of Educator Preparation coordinates and
facilitates undergraduate and graduate degree programs leading to an initial North Carolina license to teach in a PK-12 diverse learning
environment. The Director of Educator Preparation works collaboratively with Department Chairs, Program Coordinators, and other faculty
within the Department and on campus to promote high quality PK-12 education programs.

Possess effective communication skills and the ability to liaise with
students, school district personnel, and state and national accreditors.
Demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and diverse work
environments when interacting with others within the university community.
Possess the ability to use technology in
teaching and learning and be knowledgeable of gathering and utilizing electronic data for student growth and program
improvement.
Possess the ability to apply knowledge of edTPA processes and standards.
Demonstrate a strong attention to
detail.
Ability to track, manage, create, and report assessment data.
Minimum Training and
Experience
Master’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university, including
licensure as a classroom teacher in North Carolina. Doctorate with 4 years of experience preferred. Knowledge of edTPA and CAEP standards,
NCDPI reporting requirements, and NC licensure pathways and policies preferred.
