The Fleet Director is responsible for managing fleet equipment and technicians at multiple locations.Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the development and continuous improvement of fleet management operations.Responsible for the control of the truck and equipment fleet ensuring effective use and availability via effective unit management and timely repair.Create a high performing, efficient and effective fleet organization to support the business.Sets strategic and operational goals for the fleet.Work with internal business units to define the desired end state (organization, talent, and processes for this companywide function).Supervises the composition of the fleet, developing and updating plans for vehicle acquisition and disposition based on need and demand.Develop and manage key vendor relationships to ensure availability of critical equipment, vehicles and ensure uninterrupted supply via implementation of minimum vendor performance requirements.Provides all required inputs and presents vehicle lease/acquisition plans to assure the proper sizing of fleet.
Follow through on the acquisition and entering into service of vehicles and equipment.Ability to effectively implement changes in a large/multi-site organization.Develops actionable fleet expense and performance reporting, tracking monthly.Oversees the proper internal and external maintenance teams/providers to assure operational readiness of all vehicles.Supports the Safety Team in administering and monitoring adherence to federal and state programs and oversees maintenance in accordance with EPA and other mandatory regulations.Utilizes fleet management software and supporting GPS/tracking tools to enhance company vehicle/asset tracking and vehicle utilization.Facilitate movement of equipment between division ensuring proper inspections and delivery of equipment in ready condition.Manages departmental hiring, training, coaching, performance management, discipline, scheduling of work assignments, and overtime authorization.Appropriately dispositions, selling or discarding used vehicles in a compliant manner.Create workplace SOPs that drive consistency and efficiency for the fleet.Be proactive with shop repair and fleet issues.Drives the appropriate staffing and managing of qualified mechanics.Successfully controls department inventory and budgets.Embraces technology to drive effective and comprehensive decision making.COMPANY BENEFITSCompetitive Benefit Package including Medical, Dental, and Vision CoverageHealth Savings Account (HSA) w/ Company Contributions & Match401K w/ Company MatchCompany Paid Life & AD&D InsuranceCompany Paid Virtual Doctor Service through TeladocCompany Paid Long-Term DisabilityCompany Paid Short-Term Disability after 3 years employmentAdditional Voluntary Life Insurance & Voluntary Short-Term DisabilityVacation Time/PTO and Paid Holidays#TeamElectriComPosition RequirementsUndergraduate degree required, degree in Technical field preferred.Proven track record as a people leader with a minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing industry experience.
Experience developing processes and creating or greatly improving a function versus following well-established processes in an existing highly structured organization.Demonstrated ability to create/execute a vision aligned with the larger organizational objectives.Minimum five (5) years of experience in a directorial role involving direct fleet management, along with experience working in construction or adjacent industries.Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.Mechanical training or mechanic experience a plus.Strong leadership, possessing capable interpersonal skills.Demonstrated track record of driving improvement and accountability in fleet/maintenance organizations.Must be detailed oriented and good at problem-solving, prior demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skill required.Ability to multitask and prioritize, leveraging time management skills.Be familiar with U.S. DOT rules and regulation to include an understanding of FMCSA.Knowledgeable in computer applications like GPS and fleet truck or construction management systems.Experience in utility construction industry is not required but learning and embracing the industry is a must.Travel to remote sites will be required.
