Overview
This role is for a developer with strong core application or system programming skills in Java with good exposure to Spark and the broader Hadoop ecosystem. The Compliance team is focused on building Trade Surveillance scenarios to monitor trading activity. As the Senior Full Stack Java & Bigdata Engineer, you will work as part of a delivery team, collaborating with others to understand requirements, analyses and refine stories, design solutions, implement them, test them, and support them in production.

What You’ll Do
Perform technical analysis to present pros and cons of various solutions to problems
Plan and deliver solution in 2-week sprints and 5 sprints in a SAFe Program Increment
Work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities with a constant focus on delivery
Balance business demands and IT fulfilment in terms of standardization, reducing risk, and increasing IT flexibility
Skills You’ll Need
Strong experience in designing and developing distributed computing applications using Scala/Java & Apache Spark and in tuning Hadoop applications to improve throughput and latency
Strong programming experience in Java will be preferred. Expert level Scala, Python programmers with basic understanding of functional programming will also be considered; strong knowledge of Spark Structured Query Language (SQL), DAGs, catalyst, join optimizations, Apache Solr, and working knowledge of query engines such as Impala & Hive
Experience in application-level compute resource management – pools, YARN queues as well as Java and Apache Ecosystem (including Spark, Hive, and Hadoop)
Relevant software development experience using Java and related technologies and server-side Java Developer including multi-threading, Architectural Design Patterns, highly optimized, Low latency, and Massively Scalable Platforms
Experience developing application using Java, Spring, Microservices and RESTful services and writing SQL queries and with source control (Git, bitbucket), build tools (Maven, gradle), and continuous integration (TeamCity/Jenkins and with any cache like Orache Coherence, Redis)
Skills That Will Help You Excel
Behavior Driven Development, particularly experience of how it can be used to define requirements in a collaborative manner, ensure that the team builds the right thing, and create a system of living documentation
Knowledge gained in Financial Services environments, for example products, instruments, trade lifecycles, regulation, risk, financial reporting, or accounting
Strong understanding and knowledge of Cloud, OpenShift, Python, Relational Databases
Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $95k to $140k.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
