Our growing client is an established oil and gas company. They are located downtown and are on-site daily. The generalist will work with the HR director and support employees in two locations including offshore staff.
Paylocity is the HR system and payroll processing for 90-100 employees is required.
The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting various human resources functions within the organization, including coordinating payroll and benefits and leading the onboarding and offboarding processes. The HR Generalist will work closely with and report to the Director of HR & Administration to contribute to the overall success of the HR department, and the most valuable asset: its employees. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced and supportive team environment. The ideal individual has the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, possesses strong written/verbal communication skills and organizational skills, and can maintain a realistic balance between multiple priorities. As a trusted confidant, the individual must demonstrate a careful commitment to confidentiality due to the nature of the role.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers payroll, benefits, recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, and all other employee-relations matters, providing excellent communication and service to all staff and handling requests, reports, and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Lead payroll processing (Paylocity for 100 employees), including validating transactions, data, and documentation related to payroll run and updating employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes; also ensure appropriate records retention practices and requirements are maintained.
• Be the day-to-day benefits lead and liaise between benefits vendors (insurance broker, insurance carriers, 401k sponsor, etc.) and employees; and co-lead the open enrollment process by analyzing plan options, coordinating employee meetings, and verifying benefits elections for new plan years.
• Maintain HR/HRIS records and compile reports for various departments, auditors, compliance agencies, industry benchmarking surveys, etc. within regular reporting periods.
• Handle administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including HRIS data entry.
• Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, coordinating interviews, and moving the talent pipeline towards a successful offer.
• Conduct periodic audits of employee records and files to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state requirements.
• Contribute to HR process excellence by continuously looking for opportunities to operate more efficiently and effectively.
• Be a team player and assist with other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• 3-5 years’ relevant HR work experience preferred.
• College degree preferred, not required; but considered a plus.
• Prior experience with processing payroll and benefits administration preferred.
• HRIS systems experience, Paylocity preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro required.
• Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills and a positive, respectful attitude suited to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals, both internal and external to the company.
• High administrative accuracy and attention to detail skills.
• Able to prioritize deliverables and flexibility to work hours needed to meet deadlines and business critical decisions.
• Emotional maturity, ability to build collaborative relationships; resourceful problem-solver, good judgment.
