Visiting Assistant Professor of Education
The Department of Education at Connecticut College seeks applicants for a one-year visiting assistant professor position in critical theories of race and education beginning July 1, 2023.
The successful candidate will teach five courses during the 2023-2024 academic year. Teaching responsibilities may include: Intro to Educational Studies; Power and Politics in Education; Teaching for Social Justice; and, Critical Race Theory and Education.
The Department of Education is guided by a commitment to critical inquiry and practice, and supporting justice-centered, equitable educational opportunities across the P-20 continuum for all students, families, and communities. The department offers a major and a minor in Educational Studies that focuses broadly on the social foundations of education. Connecticut College does not have a teacher certification program.
Candidates must have: (1) an earned doctorate in Education or a related field by the start date; (2) evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level; (3) evidence of a commitment in professional practice to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Preferred qualifications: experience working in K-12 schools and/or community-based education.

The teaching load for a full-time visitor is five courses per academic year. Visiting faculty are initially participating members of the faculty and voting members in their second and subsequent years; their presence is welcome at all faculty meetings.
