The Denim/Wovens Technical Designer, in partnership with the cross functional team, provides accurate specifications for development samples and production orders with full size grading and construction details. This role oversees denim and non-denim woven garments for Junior, Missy and Girls markets; including but not limited to: Bottoms, Jackets, Dresses, and Overalls.
Position Responsibilities
- Work with the design team to develop the initial specs for each season
- Compile weekly fit lists of development and production styles
- Schedule the fit model; send calendar invites to attendees
- Log, measure, & prep all garments for fitting
- Conduct fittings on live model (Junior/Missy) or mannequin (Girls/Plus) with design and merchandising teams present.
- Correspond with factories on a timely basis to issue revised product/construction specifications and fit correction comments.
- Maintain consistent size and fit based on brand/division/market standards
- Prioritize workload based on garment delivery/necessary lead-times
- Collaborate daily with design & production teams to meet deadlines
- Take on additional projects as needed
Position Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a women’s technical designer (wovens, denim, washed products preferred)
- Working knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking & grading
- Understanding of the Junior, Missy & Girls markets
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Able to identify problems and create solutions
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, shift priorities and be a team player
- Proactive, dedicated, deadline-driven, and self-motivated
