SERVICE LINE OVERVIEW (Houston Permitting Center)
The Houston Permitting Center provides most of the permitting and licensing services for the City of Houston. All Houston Public Works team members at the Houston Permitting Center are service providers committed to safe community development through the permitting and regulation of public and private construction. We are home to three branches of service, Building Code Enforcement, Office of the City Engineer, and Business Support Services. Together, we work to get projects Approved in 2.
Description Of Duties/Essential Functions
General Superintendent
This position is in the Business Support Services branch and reports to the Assistant Director. The person in this role will act as a liaison to City of Houston and Houston Public Works maintenance leaders and provide oversight of all maintenance related functions at 1002 Washington Avenue. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
This is a Department of Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier II Level.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Education, Recreation, Physical Education or a closely related field.
Experience Requirements
Four years of directly related experience are required.
Directly related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
License Requirements
May require a valid class C Texas driver’s license and compliance with the City of Houston’s policy on driving.
