Strategy (35%)
Lead Carter’s IT and Business teams in establishing a master data organization and supplementary set of processes. This individual
contributor will lead or partner with respective stakeholders to ensure master data needs are met on competing tier 1 (and other projects
as needed) and manage day-to-day issues around data across the organization or through a group of assigned SMEs. Candidate will be
considered an expert in product level data and related processes across the enterprise i.e. Supply Chain, Retail, Ecommerce and
Merchandising
– Leverage the knowledge from system and business owners to aid in the development of master data governance.
– Responsible for evaluation, implementation, and evolution of tools and processes to deliver consistent and unified approach to product
data management.
– Facilitate business requests, coordinate across enterprise to ensure requests align with overall master data objectives. Ensure proper
validation, timely completion, and accuracy.
– Identify and communicate master data issues and opportunities for standardization across all levels of the organization
– Work in conjunction with key business and IT stakeholders to define master data strategy that will enable improvements to master data
alignment amongst business units
– Responsible for developing, updating, and enforcing policies and procedures for hierarchy changes, reclasses, and other related product
data.
– Provide recommendations on best practices, services, and systems used for improvement of data integrity and document internal
policies and procedures associated with those implemented at Carter’s
– Partner with IT Compliance and Security as needed to meet any pertinent requirements for master data elements
– Supports IT partners in the translation and development of requirements to meet business needs
– Lead implementation of Product Information Management initiatives to improve data quality
– Serve as leader of Data Governance Committee and drive adherence to its mission
– Evangelize importance of product data management and partner with business users to drive process changes
– Track master data issues and develop root cause solution to improve adherence to master data policies
Project Engagement (40%)
– Act as integral member of enterprise initiatives to guide projects through cause and effect of both data and process decisions
– Serve as business lead for product-data related projects as requested
– Follow internal project methodology as dictated by PMO
– Document current and future state business processes down to level 3 activity sheets and include data inflow/outflow for processes and
related applications
– Participate in solution design workshops and document functional gaps / issues related to master data
– Partner with vendors and business areas to recommend resolutions for functional gaps / issues related to master data
– Develop functional design documents for reports, interfaces and conversions related to master data
– Responsible for training and development of product data management processes.
– Review and/or prepare system enhancement functional design, technical design, and software configuration documents to facilitate
changes related to master data and its integrity
– Collaborate with functional representatives in Supply Chain, Retail, and IT on process efficiencies and updates related to product data
management for Carter’s initiatives.
– Coordinate activities related to data reclass efforts across business and IT
User and System Support (25%)
– Collect, create, and maintain current process documentation in relation to the use of master data, and in particular the processes for
the use of FlexPLM. Coordinate with Super Users in each functional area to ensure all users are aware of updates.
– Coordinate remediation of master data with business users during peak periods
– Recommend configuration of system changes for hierarchy modifications. Includes review with technical team as needed. Will be done
on all environments and follow best practices as determined by technical team.
– Coordinate resolution across applications for master data issues
– Reinforce and facilitate change management by acting as solution evangelist
– Assist with post-go-live support for data issues
– Support end users including the preparation of documentation, end user training and ongoing support. End user support to include
analysis and resolution of operational issues as they arise (troubleshooting and issue resolution including exemplary communication to
affected parties).
– Collaborate with Business and IT teams globally
– Track progress of data related issues and work towards continuous improvement with a goal of reducing the number of issues
SUPERVISORY / BUDGETARY / EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY
– Leverage offshore resources when needed.
– Supervise and coordinate consultants as needed.
– Manage and influence decentralized data stewards across the organization
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE – ANY DUTIES NOT CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL)
– Provide backup assistance and high-level functional support for retail inquiries related to FlexPLM
Experience and Skills
– 5+ years of experience in both product development and merchandising business processes in a complex environment, retail soft goods
operations highly preferred, as well as experience with any product development or product lifecycle management system supporting
those operations.
– Proven experience and skills in project management and business analytics along with exemplary communication skills are expected.
– Proven track-record in a business analyst type role
– Experience in product development business processes, order management, allocation systems highly desirable
– Understanding of software implementation project methodology
– Appreciation for data integrity and its value throughout an organization
– Familiarity with a variety of software applications in Retail, eComm, Supply Chain is a plus
– Superior Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills.
– Exemplary communication skills (written, presentation, meeting management, documentation) are required
– Ability to work independently and manage multiple small and medium size projects and adapt to shifting priorities of the business.
– High comfort level working with Visio Design is preferred
PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
– FlexPLM application knowledge is a plus
– 2+ years Business/Systems Analysis experience
– Proven experience and skills in Project Management.
– Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
– Some travel between remote locations in Georgia, New York and/or Asia may be required
