The Core Education Project Coordinator is a unique role that provides support for the Core Competencies Initiative and the General Education program assessment work in the Dietrich College of Humanities & Social Sciences, two priority educational programs at Carnegie Mellon University. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring consistent planning, implementation, and reporting of progress on strategic priorities to promote holistic learning, persistence, and overall student success. The incumbent will play a key role in the continued implementation and growth of these two initiatives under the supervision of the Director of the Core Competencies Initiative and Associate Dean of Educational Experience Assessment.
The Core Competencies Initiative incorporates a distinctive approach that leverages faculty expertise in core areas and situates competency development in the context of the holistic student experience. To support our work, we leverage research on learning and educational measurement as well as campus expertise and infrastructure in technology and data analytics to scale these efforts across colleges and departments and to systematically collect data that can guide continuous improvement.
This role is situated in the Division of the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning Innovation. We believe that combining the science and art of teaching, assessment, and technology empowers educators across campus to create the conditions for students to learn and, through this learning, transform their world. Given the rich diversity of the students, faculty, staff, and communities at CMU, we encourage individuals with underrepresented identities and those committed to advancing a more just society to apply. We are a highly motivated, creative, productive, and collaborative group and look forward to welcoming a new member to our team!
