We are a small air taxi located in the Alaskan “bush”. We are based out of Bettles, Alaska– a small community with no summertime road access (fly-in!) located north of the Arctic Circle and just south of the Brooks Range and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Brooks Range Aviation has a fleet of single engine aircraft on both wheels and floats that provide access to remote wilderness for backpackers, rafters, hunters, and National Park collectors alike.
Our tight-knit crew of about 10-15 pilots/maintenance/office/ground crew work with guests from around the world to facilitate once in a lifetime adventures. We seek dedicated, friendly, energetic people who enjoy remote, rustic living and being part of a team.
We are currently hiring for a full-time seasonal “ramping” position. Rampers fill a variety of roles throughout the day including but not limited to: fueling airplanes, driving clients between our office and our planes, helping pilots to load/unload aircraft, assisting clients however necessary, cleaning up, stocking our small shop, and whatever else may need doing! Experience with truck maintenance is a major plus, and any other special skills (electrician? builder? generally “handy”?), as odd jobs frequently arise. Opportunity to be cross-trained in our office for those interested. Drivers license required.
Our season runs from early June to mid-September. Staff housing varies from a room to an RV to a heated wall tent, but we do guarantee private, heated, sleeping quarters. Kitchen/restroom facilities are basic and communal. Food is not included (certain staples are provided), but we will assist with the somewhat complicated logistics of getting groceries to the bush.
Those with an interest in aviation will get the most out of the job, but it’s a great opportunity for anyone seeking a summer out of the ordinary!
Job Requirements:
Valid driver license. Professional demeanor, resourcefulness, ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to live in a remote setting with limited resources, in a small community under 24 hour sunlight (some darkness returns towards the end of the season, accompanied by amazing displays of the aurora borealis!), and, at times, an abundance of mosquitoes. A hard-worker with a positive attitude that is happy to pitch in and lend a hand when needed is best suited to this environment. Preference given to those with some vehicle/general maintenance experience. Must be able to reach Fairbanks, Alaska by start date (we will provide transportation from Fairbanks to Bettles).
