$1,773.36 to $1,950.70 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Rockledge/Timothy J. Mills Fire Rescue Center. Performs skilled professional work in monitoring, maintaining, reviewing, and analyzing all financial records, including the budget for the Fire Rescue Department. Work includes the responsibility for reconciling budget information with County Finance and other departments; verifying expenditures and outstanding balances; assisting in all duties related to processing payroll, including time entry, post payroll, payroll journals, payroll audits, and proprietary software entries; serving as a liaison between Fire Rescue and the Central Services Office on issues relating to purchasing and procurement services and ensuring that internal and external procurement requirements are met; resolving complicated customer-related issues; and may be required to coordinate accounting activities and direct the work of other staff members in order to ensure timely and accurate collection of accounts receivable, billing of deposits, connection and/or usage fees, and reporting of financial transactions. May supervise subordinate staff and be required to assist with all aspects of the payroll and timekeeping process for the department, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field PLUS two (2) years of professional experience in accounting or a closely related field. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must obtain, within sixty (60) days of employment, a valid Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Compliance Certification from an approved agency and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must successfully complete, within one (1) year of employment, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, and ICS-800 courses. Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
