The Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) program is looking for a Senior Lead (Level 5) or Principal (Level 6) Lead Engineer for IRAD (Independent Research and Development) efforts across its portfolio of missile defense products. This position is located at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) IAMD program is comprised of PATRIOT PAC-3, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, and Avenger programs. PAC-3 is an air-defense missile system designed to counter tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and advanced aircraft where Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the seeker. Boeing’s seekers provide active data to the PAC-3 missile which enables it to acquire, intercept and destroy threats using hit-to-kill technology. The PAC-3 Seeker team is a cross functional, highly skilled, motivated group embracing the beliefs that focused safety, execution, LEAN manufacturing and business practices will secure our future and well-being, driving our product to be the seeker of choice for the PAC-3 program and future generations of weapon systems.
Position Responsibilities Include:
Develop, document, and communicate high-level architecture and concept of operations for RF homing seeker platforms based on customer-supplied reference missions, detection range, Pdet/Pfa, etc. requirements.
Perform analyses, create budgets/allocations, develop mathematical models, etc. to decompose customer-provided seeker-level requirements and reference missions into key seeker subsystem/component requirements (e.g. gain/loss budget, phase noise requirements, bandwidth, image rejection, noise figures, dynamic range, etc.)
Adapt, update, develop, and assist w/ SW and FW implementation of sophisticated seeker detection, tracking, profiling, and ECCM algorithms
Lead cross-disciplinary trade studies to support the design of new RF seeker platforms
Develop and maintain integrated functional performance model of RF seekers to support spec decomposition, sensitivity studies, trade studies, and platform performance evaluation.
A well-qualified candidate will have exceptional skill in mixed signal processing (analog and digital), modeling and simulation, radar algorithm development, etc.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Special Programs Access may be required per the customer. Certain Special Programs require that the candidate have only U.S. Citizenship or no dual citizenship (Example: Yankee White Clearance).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
5+ years of technical leadership experience as a Chief Program Engineer, Chief Systems Engineer, AND/OR a Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Leader on a large program effort
Experience in a role that required technical writing
Engineering experience including integration of technical impacts and plans across multiple functions or Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
20+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
Experience in digital signal processing theory, including the application of fundamental digital signal processing techniques.
Knowledge of linear signal theory, Fourier transforms, and communication theory.
RF, electrical transmission, signal processing and modeling, particularly in MATLAB.
Testing experience including test design and implementation for breadboard, brassboard hardware.
Familiarity with multiple programming languages (C++, ADA, Python, etc.) in an Agile environment.
experience in Digital Signal Processing/Radar/Digital Communications algorithms and techniques (equalization, waveform processing, detection/acquisition/discrimination, channel estimation, filter design, resampling theory, etc.)
Typical Education/Experience:
Senior Lead: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Principal: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years’ related work experience, Master+18 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range for Senior Lead: $147,050 – $198,950
Summary pay range for Principal: $174,250 – $235,750
Referrals to this job are eligible for a monetary employee bonus.
