Job Description Summary

Applies standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement new or revised manufacturing & production processes for the efficient/economical production of aerospace products. Responsible for integration of design requirements into processes and procedures through research and development of manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment, facilities, and systems to produce a quality product. Leads planning and development of engineering artifacts to enable the turning of raw materials into finished and discrete products that satisfy design/system requirements. Provides guidance to design engineering on technical specifications that will best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensuring that production processes and procedures are in compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.

As part of this hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for working closely with engineering design and test teams to support all manufacturing efforts necessary to build human rated orbital launch vehicles. You will be responsible for planning and commissioning the tooling, equipment, facilities, and processes necessary to manufacture and test launch vehicle subassemblies, while simultaneously supporting the design and development of these subsystems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of detailed assembly, engineering release, tooling definition, manufacturing process development, configuration management, and production support. To be successful in this position you will have proven skills in manufacturing processes, authoring documentation, controlling configuration, and translating engineering design to engineering product.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field.
• Recent grad or 2+ years of proven experience in the design or manufacture of fluid or mechanical systems (Early Career)
• 5+ years of proven experience in the design or manufacture of fluid or mechanical systems (Mid Career)
• 7+ years of proven experience in the manufacture of aerospace fluid or mechanical systems (Senior Career)
• Experienceand passion for working with complex, precision assemblies.
• Experience as a manufacturing, production support, liaison, or quality engineer in a production-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Experience and success influencing cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Strong written, interpersonal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately (in writing and verbally) at multiple levels of an organization from executive leadership to the shop floor.
• Demonstrated experience with work instruction creation, mBOMs, and configuration management.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

• Experience working directly with solenoid, poppet, check, or ball valves
• Experience with sealing interfaces in cryogenic systems, Oxygen, Hydrogen and/or Helium desired
• Experience with fluid system fill, bleed, assembly, and purge operations
• Experience concepting assembly tooling
• Experience working in a product design, manufacturing, construction, prototyping, or machine shop environment.
• Experience with component machining and traditional fabrication processes (milling, turning, grinding, casting, forging, etc.).
• Experience with precision assembly processes that utilize LN2 or other freezing agents, vacuum ovens or other expansion agents, shrink fits, interference fits, and running fits.
• Experience with fluid system bleed and purge operations.
• Experience with safety critical systems.
• Experience transitioning products from development to production.
• Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably CREO, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation.
