Seasonal Chef for remote fly-in sport fishing lodge in Alaska’s Bristol Bay fishery. This is an opportunity to see a piece of Alaska most do not get the opportunity to visit. Western Alaska has no road access making it a very expensive part of the state to visit. You will also find yourself in an area world-renown for sport fishing. Travelers from just about everywhere come to fish this part of the state and/or to view brown bears in the wild. A trip to Katmai National Park is not out of the question during your time with us. Tracy makes an effort to get our personnel out of the lodge to experience some fun. We call it Camp Moral Day.
Okay, to get to the real reason I’m posting this ad, the job! This is Tracy’s wife, Linda. I’ve done this job off and on for 30 years but consistently for the last 10 years. Our season is July, August, and part of September. If you’re not available all season that’s okay. Let us know when and how long you would be available.
Here’s what it takes; you need to be organized and you have to be able to keep track of your inventory. There is no running to the store because there is no store nearby! Breakfast is served at 7:00 am, lunch is sent out with the guests and guides. We provide menus and recipes. The menus can be provided for your review. We also have a very thorough inventory system to make sure you start the season prepared. We serve a hot breakfast, packed lunches, and dinner. Dinner consists of an appetizer, meat, starch, vegetable plus one additional side dish, bread, and dessert.
Your attitude is super important. You will be interacting with the guests and supervising your helper. We provide shirts with logo and you provide your pants or shorts. We need someone who can use a BBQ grill. Have you ever cooked fish? – pretty important at a fishing lodge. We serve fresh salmon twice a week. We have a great kitchen and lots of modern conveniences. We max out at 6 guests, 2 pilots/guides, yourself and a helper, so you will be cooking for 10. If you think this is a job you would like to know more about please contact us. We will be happy to answer your questions. I would also be happy to help you get started at the lodge.
Our Cook is provided with a bedroom and shared bathroom. The Lodge has indoor toilets and shower (shared). You are responsible for getting to Anchorage, transportation from Anchorage to the lodge is provided.
