Summary: Blount Fine Foods seeks a proven entrepreneurial, commercially minded, hands-on, and growth-oriented leader for the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role. This individual will be a strategic partner to the CEO and the senior leadership team to implement an elevated finance platform to support the near and long-term growth and financial performance of the company. This operationally savvy executive will be expected to strategically assess and evaluate the current financial processes, systems, metrics/KPI’s, and reporting to upgrade processes where needed to enable the Company to continue its growth. The ideal candidate will bring a broad financial background from a consumer products/retail environment with a strong manufacturing component where they have gained exposure to best-in-class process, structure, and discipline. The CFO will be a strong people leader, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who will embrace the agile and enthusiastic Company culture. This executive will have influence across all operating areas to identify opportunities, drive impact across the business and create value. He/she will further be expected to set high standards within the organization as it pertains to ethics, corporate governance, and business contribution. The CFO will also support ownership and the Board of Directors through valuations, tax savings and compliance, estate planning, risk management, contingency planning, strategic options modeling and general advising the Board and owners.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The CFO will be responsible for providing overall strategic and operational direction to the Company’s accounting and finance functions, working closely with other executive team members on the development and execution of the Company’s strategy, corporate initiatives, planning, policies, procedures and will be a key leader in guiding the successful day-to-day operations of the business. More specifically, the CFO role is tasked with the following:
Business Partner: Serve as a business partner and strategic adviser to the CEO and other members of the executive leadership team and Board of Directors. Provide data-driven insight to critical business matters to drive profitable growth. Contribute actively to the evolution and execution of strategic business plans, including M&A, organic growth, and business development strategies.
Operational Finance: Draw on strong operational finance skills to advise and add value; act as a thought leader by providing strategic and analytical insight and perspective to the senior leadership team. Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges. Ensure strong and effective relationships with all external partners and vendors.
Financial Planning & Analysis: Provide overall leadership to the management reporting, financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes. Lead efforts to drive the analytical rigor of the finance team so that business decisions throughout the organization are informed by analytical insight while improving the organization’s ability to leverage and manage data.
Team Leadership: Provide effective and servant leadership to the finance organization, ensuring the development of the required financial capabilities for the Company, and the development of talent within the organization. Ensure the function is properly resourced and organized and develop a business partnership mindset across the organization.
Reporting / Control: Oversee and lead financial reporting. Ensure the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement and management of accounting systems and controls. Manage the financial accounting of several affiliated LLCs and trusts.
Treasury / Cash Management: Play a leading role in negotiating and optimizing the Company’s financial structure and balance sheet. Manage lender group relationships and manage bank credit lines, loans, capital leases and other financing arrangements.
M&A: Evaluate the strategic positioning of any proposed deal and support M&A efforts in both due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
Efficiency / Process Improvement: Leverage an already strong operations platform to produce better data and insights and streamlines processes where possible. Continuously examine opportunities for sustainable cost efficiencies that are consistent with the operating and growth strategies of the business. Work with the IT department to collaboratively develop new tools that can drive improved Company performance and profitability.
Ownership: Manage outside advisors such as auditors and tax advisors to assure compliance with federal and state law; as well as compliance with banking agreements. Work with owners on the best tax and ownership structure to minimize taxes and maximize ownership equity. Understand corporate valuation as it relates to estate planning and ownership value. Manage distribution to owners, various life insurance and estate planning tools and trusts.
