The Venture Team Lead is responsible to guide Arktura Ventures Innovation Projects from inception to launch. Using both broad experience and a diverse background in innovation and entrepreneurship, this role ensures delivery of a strong pipeline of impactful opportunities and solutions for creative products, technologies and business models. The Venture Team Lead serves as a player‐coach and directly leads projects in the portfolio, leveraging a small core team of dedicated Venture Specialists and external resources.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Owns the planning phase through to execution/ early stand‐up of a new venture project from inception to launch.
• Serve as a voice to clarify the expectations of customers on new problems and solutions. Using human centered design principles, the Lead will prepare/ conduct primary user research, present target user personas, market sizing, journey maps to identify and prioritize user pains, unmet market needs and design principles.
• Uses empathy as an excavation tool, to divine the problem beneath the problem; facilitate ideation with creativity and courage to uncover best possible range of solutions against user pains/ market needs.
• Ability to create and test prototypes, MVPs, launch beta pilots and proofs of concept development as a means to test, learn and validate or pivot to arrive at most viable products and business models for commercialization.
• Own the development of GTM strategy, exploring multiple launch paths and exit opportunities.
• Recruit, manage, and mentor members of the core project team, creating a high performance, innovative, collaborative, continuous learning culture.
• Lead will drive quality deliverables for the work and embrace data driven decision‐making and diverse of perspectives to get there.
• Alongside project work, Lead will maintain user centricity and objectivity, supporting decisions with proof points & market data from testing cycles.
• Creates compelling presentations and storytelling, particularly around key decisions, stage gate reviews and major milestones.
• Support best practices by scouting and implementing market research methods for novel ideas, methods and insights. Lead will promote open innovation through the introduction of new tools and processes that encourage creative thinking. Lead is willing/ able to invent new tools when the existing tools don’t fit.
• Build/ maintain relationships internally and externally that help facilitate rapid, scrappy experimentation by “borrowing” smarts, resources, or permission from others.
• Identifies and daylights business obstacles throughout solution discovery and development.
• Occasional travel required.

• Exceptional communication, active listening, critical thinking, and presentation skills
• Passionate about solving the right problems, by leveraging the right questions, enjoys learning about people, following trends, attending events, etc.
• Ability to work and manage projects independently. Ability to work without supervision. Feels comfortable with broad latitude for decision making.
• Experience working with teams comprised of a variety of skills (customer development, experience design, software development, marketing, project management, education, technical operations)
• Ability to apply broad/ diverse expertise or unique knowledge and professional concepts to develop resolutions to critical issues.
• Ability to network with key contacts outside their own area of expertise and create formal networks with key decision makers.
• Self‐aware, possesses a learner’s growth mindset. Continuously seeks and provides feedback, open to new perspectives and remains coachable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages and sufficient knowledge of business communication tools.

Education, Training and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience listed above, with an additional 5+ years in a product or project leadership role preferred with oversight of multiple concurrent initiatives and teams of direct and indirect reports
• Or 10+ years of working experience an innovation role – at an innovation consulting firm, a design firm and/or within a corporate innovation team
• Prior experience working in Startup/ Incubator environment, Product Teams, Digital Agencies (Design Think/Agile), Corporate Innovation, and/or Strategy Consulting preferred
• Track record of building/launching new products, businesses or teams/divisions. Demonstrate ownership of complex projects or work from inception to delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent
