The Development Manager will be instrumental in steering our diverse array of projects, ranging from commercial multi-family complexes to retail developments, guiding them from concept to completion. Collaborating closely with department heads and ownership, the Development Manager will supervise crucial stages such as design coordination, preconstruction pricing, permit facilitation, due diligence, and construction management. This role demands a hands-on, team-focused real estate professional with extensive experience in construction management, specifically in ground-up multi-family properties and single tenant retail developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Manage the various stages of development for multi-family and student housing projects. Oversee all facets of commercial retail centers and single-use tenant developments.
Site Assessment: Evaluate sites, analyzing costs, and navigating steps related to zoning, local ordinances, and project feasibility.
Cost Underwriting: Work closely with the construction team to accurately assess project costs. Maintain robust project controls to ensure timely and budget-friendly project delivery.
Consultant Management: Handle contracts, scopes, budgets, and schedules for consultants crucial to project development.
Hands-On Support: Actively engage in the development process, managing budgets, negotiating agreements, and providing tactical support at every project stage.

Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in real estate, construction management, engineering, or business. The specific degree is flexible, but this qualification is mandatory.
Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the student housing or multi-family industry. Demonstrated expertise in these sectors is indispensable.
Proactive Attitude: Self-motivated individual comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, deadline-driven environment.
Travel: Willingness to travel locally and out of state on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.
