Position Overview
The Department of Curriculum & Teaching at the
University of Kansas is seeking nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in
Secondary Education. The position’s primary focus is teaching secondary social studies education courses in the department’s teacher
education campus-based undergraduate program in Lawrence, Kansas. Additionally, the candidate will be directing our Social Studies education
program. The position will be full-time on an academic year appointment to begin August 18, 2024.
The successful candidate will have
the opportunity to engage with students and be surrounded by collaborative colleagues across the School of Education and Human Sciences. We
work together as a supportive intellectual community and seeks a colleague who will enhance our organization in the following ways: 1)
Demonstrate a strong commitment that requires the academy to live up to its ideals regarding to access, equity, and success; 2) Support
social justice; and 3) Participate in the School’s commitment to public engagement and activism that better serves underserved communities
of students and employees locally, statewide, and (inter)nationally.
Successful applicants will have a doctorate in Secondary
Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Teacher Education with a concentration in middle/secondary social studies or a closely related

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S, by the time of
appointment.
