DESCRIPTION
TES is looking for an experienced financial analyst who will assist in preparing and processing timely federal fund draw downs by ensuring compliance with accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting standards, laws and regulations and state or federal requirements.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that all billable expenditures for each award have been invoiced to the agency and subsequently collected and that all expenditures reported to the agency are supported by sufficient documentation in the event the project is audited.
Prepare, reconcile, and maintain federal draws general ledger accounts. Ensure draws are applied timely to open invoices. Review, track, monitor, and reconcile letter of credit accounts receivable accounts.
Prepare all supporting documentation related to provider expenses to support federal drawdown requests. Be timely in all reporting requirements to the agency and monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Work with Accounts Receivable and the Sponsored Projects Finance teams to research and/or resolve outstanding deficiencies and general formal notification of financial re view findings of deficiency.
Recommends accounting related improvements to business practices such as accounting controls and financial reviews. Prepare balance sheets and financial statements involving multiple accounts. Assists higher level staff in planning, design and implementation of accounting procedures.
Monitors drawdowns aspects of grants by preparing or reviewing financial reports, reviewing expenditures for compliance with grant contracts, providing technical assistance to grantees in maintaining accounting records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties.
Must have federal drawdown experience, strong accounting background, and be able to manipulate large data sets.
Five (5) years of accounting or grant accounting experience required.
Knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, cash management, accounts receivable and grant concepts, reporting, and other applicable accounting principles.
Intermediate/advanced in Excel as well as accounting software.
Oracle Financials Cloud experience preferred.
Anticipated Duration: 12 months +
Compensation: $80,000 to $85,000/year including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.
Location: Hybrid/remote, 1-2 days/week on-site may be required. Office location is near La Jolla main campus.
Work schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00AM – 4:30PM

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 – $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 – $59.53
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
