Golf Instructor Responsibilities:
Get to know each and every child. We take care of our children well, because we know them.
Further the mission of camp through the development and delivery of athletic activities at Echo. Deliver instructional periods that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assist in the management to the physical operation of the athletic facilities and equipment.
Take part in a pre-camp training with our Athletic Director and Camp Directors.
Deliver a fun athletic program for campers.
Create plans that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
Evaluate athletic abilities of campers and staff.
Deliver progressive athletic program activities.
Evaluate the success of the activity and the development of the campers’ abilities and skills in your area of athletics.
Develop new processing and debriefing tools.
Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment.
Conduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
Maintain the fields/courts equipment, and ask for help if something is needed.
Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
Act as a responsible cabin counselor when with your cabin and at times when you are not scheduled in your specialty area.
Manage private tennis lessons.
Create and coordinate in camp tournaments.
Structure of Athletic Periods:
6 x 45 minute athletic periods per day.
Required to lead additional practices during rest hours or twilight as needed.
Physical Aspects of the Job:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
Some physical requirements of an athletics position could be endurance, including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate pool/lake equipment and activities. Requires normal range of hearing eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to life up to 50 lbs. Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying water conditions.
