The Engineering position’s role is to ensure stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in – house information systems that support core organizational functions. Responsibilities include: formulating and defining specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifying/maintaining complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.

Essential Functions
Assures that systems and information can be recovered; performs quarterly recovery drills using a representative subset of hardware/systems in a controlled environment.
Conduct post-implementation review for lessons learned, archive notes and knowledge transfer document. Arrange and manage training schedule of necessary personnel including Technical support and backup staff.
Conducts needs assessments, designs and deploys new equipment and enhancements to existing systems, software, and applications. Identifies and addresses all mandatory user defined requirements.
Conducts proactive system management by reviewing and applying patches monthly, system upgrades as new releases become available; ensuring adequate testing; reviewing maintenance procedures. Monitors the health and performance of equipment. Notifies management and team of immediate or pending risk in a timely manner. Provide options for provisional and permanent resolutions to support minimum system outages.
Coordinates the efforts of a variety of individuals, groups, and teams necessary for each project. Mitigate risks, shift resources and task time lines as necessary. Coordinates or performs build of the new/upgraded system to include necessary functionality. Minimize scope creep and “gold plating” of project deliverables.
Communicates in an effective and timely manner with the project team and stake holders. Designs system capabilities. Involves a team to review and sign off on design. Coordinates or conducts necessary testing required which might include unit, system, parallel, and integrated testing.
Identify risks, single points of failure and system limitations. Provides management with options and implements best practice approaches within project budget to maximize uptime.
Plans Major IS projects using a project management approach. Define and ensure that project objectives are met by monitoring and measuring progress regularly to identify variances from the plan; taking corrective action when necessary; tracking the variances and changes. Identify key stake holders and potential risks.
Performs routine maintenance on assigned equipment, systems and/or applications. Adheres to maintenance window procedures to assure comprehensive coverage of all maintenance tasks.
Works with key stakeholders, vendors, and co-workers to resolve issues within a timely manner. Communicates clearly. Escalates issues as needed.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma Preferred X Required
Bachelor’s Degree X Preferred Required
Minimum Work Experience
Required: 5 to 7 years IT experience.
Preferred: 3+ years of Healthcare IT.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in 2 or more of the following technologies: VMWare Horizon and/or Citrix with a focus on XenApp Virtualization, (VDA Management, Server Images, Citrix Policies, FSLogix), Server Virtualization, Desktop Virtualization, Application Virtualization, Active Directory including Group Policy management, SAN, Storage (VSAN), VMWare 6.5 & VxRails 7.0+, Wyse Management, Print Management, Imprivata SSO, WSUS, SCCM. Citrix and/or VMWare Horizon management is a must.
