*If so, nice to meet you!* Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Division is seeking a *Composites FEA Engineer based in Mesa, AZ *to join a team committed to excellence, continuous improvement and driving sustainable business results.
The Composites FEA Engineer will work directly with customers and the MCG R&D and Commercial teams to develop custom solutions using composite materials and advanced manufacturing. They will be responsible for managing application development from design concept to production implementation. *Come be a part of this dynamic team!!*

We provide material solutions, engineering support, stock shapes, near net shapes, precision components, and assemblies.
*What You Will Do…*
Design:
* Interview the customer with the commercial team to analyze the needs, define requirements, and outline the technical approach
* Work closely with the MCG R&D and Commercial and Marketing teams to qualify new opportunities, develop preliminary business cases and scope development projects
* Evaluate technical and economic factors for composite materials and manufacturing processes to assist in advance solution designs
* Collaborate with FEA and Design Engineering to analyze and recommend materials, geometries, composite approach and best practices
* Design solutions that meet customer expectations, company polices, best practices, and industry standards and specifications
* Work with MCG Engineering to ensure proposed design meet the required load cases and application requirements
Execution:
* Collaborate with FEA Engineers to ensure proposed composite structures meet and exceed required load case requirements.
* Coordinate with Program and Project Management to support strategic customer programs and engage in design and engineering reviews with customer engineering teams
* Assist with hands-on prototyping, fabrication and testing of new material and processes
* Collaborate with engineering on all aspects of composite material characterization,
* Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners to develop quote proposals, timelines, project costing and deliverables.
* Provide ongoing engineering assistance to Production Operations during technology transition and scale-up, including troubleshooting of process problems, conducting special testing campaigns and developing detailed project reports
* Create and maintain composite process documentation and test reports
* Oversee or design experiments to test critical project hypotheses efficiently
* Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to complete experiments safely and on schedule
* Facilitate analytical testing through internal QC and 3rd party labs with advice from R&D and application experts
Communication:
* Communicate status and project timelines to the commercial team
* Work closely with management of the R&D, Engineering, Operations and Quality departments to maintain alignment on project plans and needed resources
* Serve as a liaison across external suppliers, commercial and operations teams, and project stakeholders
* Analyze results and extract concise insights from data to develop technical presentations for the customer. non-specialist audience
*What You Will Have…*
* Bachelor’s of Science in materials science, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering or similar
* 5 or more years experience working in thermoplastic and/or thermoset composites and advanced manufacturing technologies
* Experience with solid modeling in CAD such as Solidworks, Dassault CATIA, Siemens NX
* Expertise in composite design, laminate and flow theory and optimal fiber alignment
* Experience with testing and characterization of Thermoset and Thermoplastic composites
* Experience with statistical analysis and preparation of composite design allowables
* Experience in a wide range of composite manufacturing technologies, including: injection molding, compression molding, and vacuum infusion technologies
* Ability to convert a conventional multi-piece metallic design into an integrated composite structure
* Must have background and expertise in material process development with emphasis on manufacturing scale-up to enable launch of commercially successful products
* Demonstrated applied knowledge of polymer science, process characterization, process-component performance relationships and materials processing is required
* Experience reviewing engineering drawings and providing guidance to design, stress and manufacturing engineers
* Ability to use modeling software to break down assemblies, suggest composite designs and collaborate with customer design engineers.
*Even Better If You Have…*
* Exposure or experience with polymer and composite material modeling, simulation and FEA analysis
* Proficient with statistical analysis and use of statistical tools such as Design for Six Sigma
* Knowledge of defect and failure analysis and NDT equipment such as ultrasound or X-ray
* Experience or exposure to Additive Manufacturing and composite materials processing
* Knowledge of Technology Readiness Level and Manufacturing Readiness Level methodology
