The Faculty of Education at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Ethical and Legal
Studies in Education. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence July 1, 2024.
The Faculty of Education is one of the leading faculties of education in Canada with a
particular focus on research with social impact. We are an engaged and deliberately diverse community of faculty, educators, staff, and
students committed to academic and research excellence, democratic practices and the promotion of decolonizing, equitable, and inclusive
education.
We look forward to hiring a colleague with expertise in historical, contemporary, and emerging ethical and legal issues in
K-12 education. They will teach the mandatory curriculum in core domains of undergraduate ethical legal and policy studies and their
implications for professional practice, organization, curriculum, administration, policy and crucially, for inclusive education, areas that
serve the B.Ed centrally. They will contribute to ongoing curriculum development in this domain. At a minimum level this crucial hire will
ensure we are compliant with Ministry of Education and Ontario College of Teachers B.Ed accreditation requirements and ensure our graduates
have been taught how to teach ethically legally and safely in diverse classrooms. The successful applicant will contribute fully and broadly
