Position Summary: The Thayer School of Education
at Wingate University is pleased to announce a 9-month continuing contract appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Teacher
Education. This is a full-time faculty tenure track position commencing in August 2024. The successful applicant will have a terminal degree
in education or related field from a regionally accredited institution. The applicant should have experience teaching in the preparation of
pre-service teachers in traditional and alternative teacher preparation programs, including through online and distance education, while
also showing a commitment to culturally sustaining practices in
education.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

In addition to the duties listed above, this position
includes the following duties and responsibilities:

• Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in education
• Serving
  as an academic advisor to undergraduate students
• Advising and mentoring doctoral students while serving on dissertation
  committees
• Supervising undergraduate and/or graduate students in student teaching and educational studies
  internships 
• Conducting research leading to publication and engaging in service to the Thayer School of Education, University,
  profession, and community 
• Participating as a team member in addressing all issues that affect successful outcomes for all Education
  majors
• Consistent, high-quality communication with department, colleagues and students
• Adherence to the general faculty
  guidelines as specified by Wingate University 
• Regular, predictable attendance on campus 
• Alignment with University mission,
  vision, and strategic roadmap 
• Other job duties/responsibilities as assigned

Skills/Abilities:

• Possess an appreciation for diverse, first-generation, non-traditional, and socio-economically challenged
  students and a willingness to work individually and in groups to support success in application and matriculation into the
  program 
• Commitment to actively support and advance DEI initiatives

Education and
Experience:

• Terminal degree in education or related field form an accredited institution required
• Demonstrated
  academic leadership and strong record of teaching excellence
