THE POSITION

Organizational Structure

The Designer, Men’s Wovens will report into the Sr. Director, Men’s Design.

Responsibilities

• Engaged in all aspects of design, such as building brand right product that supports Vince’s financial and merchandising strategies
• Strong sketching skills and understanding of proportion
• Conceptualize and develop seasonal trends within the department
• Researches development and finishes, washes and fabrics
• Works with the Technical Design and Production Departments to source and fit sample garments
• Works with merchandising on seasonal key items/assortment
• Work closely with Technical Designers and Patternmakers on fit and intent of garments
• Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested
• Shop market and strategize on business opportunities to impact growth in men’s wovens category

Qualifications/Experience

• 4-6 years of experience in wovens design
• College degree in Fashion Apparel Design
• Must have contemporary experience and have worked in a fast pace environment
• Must have well rounded knowledge of knit fabrication and mills
• Strong hand sketching and computer sketching skills
• Understanding of contemporary market and competitive set
• Excellent understanding of business strategy and able to apply to the brand’s vision elevating and innovating the brand’s aesthetic
• Must be able to present to senior management with confidence and maintain a strong point of view
• Must have understanding of construction and techniques that apply to wovens
• Experienced in creating technical packages that include front, and back view of sketches as well as detail sketches and BOM
• Ability to work under pressure in an environment of constant shifting priorities and change
