This is a hybrid position with approximately 3 days/month spent in one of our office locations (New Hartford, Buffalo, or Woodbury, NY). This role may handle more complex auto material damage claims, including for our commercial insurance customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for delivering best-in-class claims service in an efficient and compassionate manner, and with an uncompromising focus on our customers.
Perform all the duties and responsibilities of a Claim Specialist I.
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve first or third party Property and Casualty claims of a more serious and complex nature than a Claim Specialist I, including commercial lines auto claims.
Operate more independently and resolve claim files within a higher authority limit.
Ability to interpret coverage, assess comparative negligence, evaluate damages and negotiate settlements with limited supervisor intervention.
Handle less complex litigated files. On occasion may be required to attend mediation or trials. Direct defense counsel in the resolution of claim.
Consult with Supervisor on more complex coverage and technical matters.
May be required to provide technical support for less experienced Specialists.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION: Four year degree or equivalent experience preferred. Insurance related coursework helpful.
EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years Insurance claims experience preferred.
LICENSES: Ability to acquire state licenses as required.
Salary Range: $55,341 – $71,200
The final salary to be paid and position within the internal salary range is reflective of the employee’s work experience, their geographic location, education, certification(s), scope and responsibilities in the role, and additional qualifications.
