The UW-Madison Cryo-EM Research Center (), the NIH-funded Midwest Center for Cryo-ET (), and Wright Laboratory () seeks to hire an Administrative Assistant to support laboratory operations in our rapidly growing program. The research enterprise encompasses advanced imaging facilities with missions to provide investigators with access and training with these resources to enable research focused on explorations of complex questions in structural biology, cell biology, bacteriology, and virology. The research teams also develop and make available the most advanced cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) instrumentation and techniques for bioscience researchers from academia, government, or private industry laboratories.
As a team member, along with others, this position provides critical support in the coordination of complex activities among members of the staff, as well as internal and external stakeholders. This will include communications such as the review, triage, and response to email communication; support for scheduling within the centers; data entry, data maintenance, and updates to records; coordinating weekly, quarterly, and annual events; coordinating event logistics such as the booking of venues and catering; management of center website(s), generation of media content, and other outreach activities; and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the capacity for high-level administrative problem-solving, working independently with initiative and judgement, and the ability and the desire to work as part of a team.

Qualifications:
At least 2 years of administrative experience in a dynamic scientific research-centered department or team. Preference for individuals with experience with Microsoft Office programs, WordPress or other website development software, marketing software such as Oracle’s Eloqua, and other work and team management solutions. The person hired must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, good organizational skills, an ability to be trained or teach others effectively, and a capacity to be self-motivated and work independently.

The starting salary for this position is $20.00 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
