Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia, College of Arts and Sciences,
Division of Education, Health and Social Work invites applications for a full-time, clinical faculty appointment in Education. This is a
nine month position, with a required additional two months of summer work. This position has a target start date of August 16, 2024.

The University of the District of Columbia is a public, comprehensive university with an urban land-grant distinction. It is the District
of Columbia’s only public institution of higher education. It has historically been a minority serving institution. The University services
approximately 4,000 students across its two-year baccalaureate, masters, and professional programs. The Washington metropolitan community
provides an exceptional learning laboratory for faculty, staff, and students.

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities

• The responsibilities of the position include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses face
  to face, with possible opportunities for hybrid or online instruction.
• Other duties include assisting with daily programmatic
  operational issues, serving on division, program, college, and/or university committees, maintaining a research agenda, working
  collaboratively with program faculty and area partners, performing service, administrative, and accreditation-related tasks as necessary to
  enhance the quality of the program, and performing tasks related to the development of excellence in Adult Education at UDC.
• The
  successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration and work toward continuous improvement as
  part of a team.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate active program engagement, including program recruitment activities, student
  advising, outcomes assessment, service to the program, department, college, University and community.
• Skills in research,
  publishing, and grant writing are desirable.

Additional Duties 

• Collaborate with faculty and community
  stakeholders for program improvement.
• Work closely with other University, College, and Department faculty and
  professionals.
• Participate in program governance at the College and University levels as well as contribute to one’s professional
  organizations.
• Provide assistance in writing and submitting documents and reports associated with accreditation.

Minimum Job Requirements

• A Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or
  university.
• A minimum of three successful years of experience teaching in P-12 schools.
• Knowledge of best practices and
  skills associated with teaching and educator preparation.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Outstanding
  communication skills.
• Ability to engage with diverse groups and show sensitivity to variations across age, gender socioeconomic
  status, ethnicity, language, cultural, national origin, and prior training and educational experience.

A candidate for
appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor shall be required to meet the following qualifications:

1. An appropriate
   terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a period of time to be specified in the terms of the initial contract;
   and
2. At least three (3) years of full-time teaching experience, including two (2) years in an institution of higher
   education.

Appropriate professional experience and achievements may be substituted when formal teaching experience is limited or
absent.

When formal teaching experience is limited or absent, the candidate shall be required to demonstrate verifiable potential for
effective teaching.

A candidate for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor shall be required to meet the following

qualifications:

1. An earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or experience
   and achievements comparable to the doctorate;
2. A record of scholarship and professional growth; and
3. At least five (5) years
   of full-time teaching experience in an institution of higher education, including three (3) years as an Assistant
   Professor.

absent.
