Tenure Status: Tenure Track
The Department of Teacher Education at the University of Southern Indiana, a public
university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Education. The appointment will
begin August 2023. The department houses a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Currently, greatest needs include
elementary education, special education, reading/literacy, graduate programs, and building/district administration.
Required
Qualifications:
1) doctoral degree in Education or closely related field and 2) a minimum of 3 years, full time K-12 teaching experience
in a classroom setting (specify grade levels). ABD considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree is not conferred by hire
date.
Position Description:
The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses designed for education majors at the
undergraduate and graduate levels; advise students; serve on dissertation committees; engage in service-related activities including
participation in departmental, college, and university meetings and committees and professional organizations; and, initiate and collaborate
in research and grant activities leading to scholarly presentations and publications. Although some courses are taught in distance education
formats, applicants should expect that an on-campus presence will be required throughout the term of their employment.
