Organizational Summary:
The University of South Florida College of Education is a community of
faculty, students, and staff focused on transforming lives through the promotion of equity, social justice, and improved outcomes for
students and communities particularly those that have been underserved. The College of Education has a presence on all three campuses within
USF. The USF St. Petersburg Campus offers undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees that are specific to this campus in addition to
working with degrees that are spread across all three campuses. Our undergraduate degree is unique in the USF System as is two of our
graduate degrees. There are multiple faculty members on this campus in addition to staff and student assistants. We also run several K-16
Initiatives, programs like UMatter and Call Me MiSTER, as well as teach some undergraduate general education courses. The Department of
Language, Literacy, Ed.D., Exceptional Education, and Physical Education is a multi-campus academic unit, with faculty on all three campuses
of the University of South Florida. The Department provides undergraduate, graduate, and in-service programs and learning experiences that
reflect collaboration with stakeholders, incorporation of professional practice standards, and alignment with state, national, and
international standards. The faculty and staff of the LLEEP Department are committed to preparing lifelong learners who are ready to
consider multiple perspectives; embrace diversity, equity, and advocacy; think critically; and make informed, evidence-based
decisions.
The Department of Language, Literacy, Ed.D., Exceptional Education, and Physical Education at the University of South
Florida invites applications for a 12-month Associate Professor of Instruction faculty position on the St. Petersburg campus.
Position Summary:
The USF College of Education undergraduate major allows our students to get certified
in K-6 Elementary, K-12 ESOL, K-12 ESE, as well as obtaining their reading endorsement. A major part of this degree program are their
internships within local districts. The internships are designed for specific classroom settings. The Associate Professor of Instruction is
responsible for managing program resources to fulfill the program mission in accordance with priorities, time and budget requirements. The
Associate Professor of Instruction position oversees all of the supervisors, setting up the sites, and program coordination of all of the
internships. Essential job duties also includes teaching the three different levels of seminars (Internship 1, Internship 2, and the final
Internship). Furthermore, this position handles the end of semester research presentation, background checks, finger printing appointments,
and performing supervisory duties in the field. The candidate will occasionally travel to the other two campuses (Tampa and Sarasota
Manatee) in addition to be being based on the St. Petersburg Campus. This position reports directly to the Campus
Dean.
Special Skills:
This position requires skill in planning, budgeting, and evaluating projects, along
with specific expertise in the subject matter of the program. An Associate Professor of Instruction must be able to apply a high level
written and oral communication skill for important interactions with community agencies, sources of funding, internal contacts, compliance
organizations, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)
Minimum Qualifications:
Terminal degree in
Education from an accredited institution in the field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience that
meet national and/or regional accreditation standards. Must possess experience with field supervision, coaching, and providing feedback to
student interns and or new teachers. Must possess Florida Professional Educator Certificate.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in Education from an accredited institution in the field of specialization or
equivalent qualifications based on professional experience that meet national and/or regional accreditation standards. Working
relationship/knowledge of partnering districts. Knowledge of learning management systems such as Canvas. Clinical Education training.
Designing, leading, and facilitating high quality professional development workshops.
