This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a
multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social,
and educational sciences. The Learning Research & Development Center (LRDC) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research
and Evaluation Specialist to join the Evaluation for Learning team. As the name suggestion, the team is committed to helping educational
practitioners, leaders, and policymakers leverage evaluation to support learning and accelerate progress toward their goals. The team
focuses on evaluations of educational programs and organizations with particular emphasis on equitable and inclusive systems. The team works
on a broad array of projects including the Pittsburgh Promise annual metrics, evaluation of the Pittsburgh Promise Coaching Initiative, the
STEM PUSH Network, the Northern California College Promise Coalition, and several new projects coming on board in the next several
months.
This growing team is looking for new talent to provide support for cross-project coordination and management, building
measurement instruments like surveys and interview protocols, collecting and managing data, and conducting basic qualitative and
quantitative analyses. The work requires strong analytic skills, fluency with productivity software, Excel, Qualtrics, Google Drive, and
calendaring apps. The project also relies heavily on the Basecamp platform and uses quantitative software such as STATA and R. In addition,
the team will also need some administrative assistance with calendar management, agenda preparation, meeting notes, and travel expense
reports.
The job requires the candidate be eager to learn, and be willing to be intentional about inclusivity on the team and
with clients and stakeholders. Accuracy is critical so attention to detail is a must. The successful candidate will be able to be
self-managed but eager to learn new skills and approaches. The position requires a Master’s degree in Education, Research Methodology,
Evaluation, Learning Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field; level of experience, 2 years conducting applied research or
evaluations, preferably in education or other human-services area.
