We also work directly with school district and community college partners to support recruiting. And, we are actively engaged with students and alumni to improve student retention and graduation rates.

Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Project Coordinator – Teacher Education.
The responsibilities of the Project Coordinator will be to work with the PD ( Project Director) and Co-PD (Co Project Director) to carry through all the goals of the BECAS (Bilingual Educators for Communities and Schools) grant.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong computer skills
Experience in presentation of workshops or public speaking.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be a self-starter and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrate ability to organize and work independently as a leader and as part of a team.
Must have the ability to effectively interact with faculty, staff, students, parents, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

Job Duties
Works as a chief correspondent between the university and the project partners. Communicates with the partner school districts regularly and organizes and leads the semi-annual partner meetings. Serves as a liaison to organizations such as BEAM, the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and TABE (Texas Association of Bilingual Education) that support the grant’s goals.
Recruits graduate and undergraduate students from the partner districts and from within the university into teacher education program, working in coordination with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Graduate School.
Assists the co-Pls in recruiting and selecting the scholarship recipients. Monitors their fulfillment of the requirements for receiving financial assistance such as GPA maintenance, continued enrollment in university courses, and participation in the student support programs.
Oversees grant budget utilizing university-required online programs to manage. Works with the project director to complete all required online and hard copy forms needed to pay for purchases, consultants, local and other travel, participant stipends, and other expenses incurred by the grant.
Contributes to the combined Annual Performance/Complete Data Report submitted annually to OELA. Works with the Project Director and the evaluator to collect data, and write assigned portions of the report
Ensures that all records, files and reports (eg. employee payment action (EPA) forms; scholarship agreement and payment authorizations; travel approvals and reimbursements; meeting agendas, sign-ins, minutes and evaluations; surveys administered to project participants) are properly maintained in both hardcopy and electronic format.
Organizes and documents regular meetings of the project staff including the PD, Co-PD and evaluator. Follows up with individuals on responsibilities assigned during the meetings.
Understands the Texas certification requirements for bilingual/ESL teachers and recommended best practices for PK-12 bilingual/ESL programs. Communicates these effectively to current and prospective students, to school administrators in partner districts, and to university faculty and staff.
Represents the grant at departmental and college meetings as well as at other intra-university meetings as directed by the PD.
May act in place of a PD or co-PD on official business and may be responsible for professional communication either in writing, or in person, at partner meeting.
Attends university, regional, state and national conferences and events such as teacher fairs, Tex TESOL, TACHE (Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education) , BEAM (Bilingual/ESL Association of the Metroplex), and Las Llaves del Exito to recruit students.
Translates or secures professional translations from English to Spanish of selected documents.
May temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services.
