Department Summary

Position Summary
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration invites applications for an Associate/Full Professor and Department Chair to begin Fall 2023. The successful candidate will lead the Teacher Education & Administration Department’s faculty and staff with programs of national prominence, including undergraduate, graduate, and certification programs in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, Early Childhood, Language and Literacy, Elementary and Secondary Education, and STEM Education. The department seeks a chair who will build upon its 130 years of excellence and guide its programs to a higher plane of excellence and national recognition.
The successful candidate must be a leader in his or her field, as evidenced by strong leadership, publication record, and national professional activity. The department chair is also expected to have an active research program of national significance; to work with faculty on procuring external funding to support research; to mentor undergraduate, graduate, and certification students; and to collaborate with faculty and external agencies to achieve the academic goals of the college and university. In addition, the candidate will be expected to teach some courses, chair or serve on dissertation committees, and contribute service to the College of Education and the University of North Texas.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction and/or Educational Leadership, STEM Education concentrations, Literacy Education, Early Childhood, and/or Elementary and Secondary Education. The successful candidate will have a record that is qualified for the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Professor.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with research, teaching, and service agenda focused on issues of equity in education, specifically those that center the experiences and voices of historically marginalized student populations as well as demonstrated experience leading educational programs in higher education.
