Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The NC New Teacher Support Program (NTSP) Instructional
Coach affiliated with the Watson College of
Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington will manage a cohort of teachers assigned in one or more schools
and/or school districts in the southeast region and will be assigned to these locations as needed.
The Instructional Coach will work
with beginning teachers to establish ambitious and inspiring vision and goals, plan purposefully, and engage in data-based problem solving
to increase student achievement. Instructional Coaches will also play an integral role in developing the broader support program, working
closely with NC NTSP staff, school and district leadership, UNC system Schools of Education, and others to ensure that the web of support is
effective for new teachers.
*The position will reside in the Watson Education building but will travel to Onslow County Schools and
may travel to other districts in the southeast region.

public school education.

The NC New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP) seeks to improve the knowledge and ability of beginning teachers by
developing and executing intensive summer institutes, instructional coaching and support services, and professional development for
beginning teachers. Under the direction of the UNC General Administration and in collaboration with institutions of higher education and
Local Education Agencies, the NC New Teacher Support Program provides research-based induction services delivered by master teachers and
instructional coaches during a beginning teacher’s first, second, and third years of their career and manages and develops new teachers to
envision and achieve results that ensure short and long term success of their students.
