The University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Global Grants and Initiatives team! This individual will play an integral role in the planning and organization of multiple global grants (focused in Africa, Latin America and SE Asia) as well as supervising a small team of junior project managers.
As a successful Project Manager, you will work directly with the grant managers and under the supervision of the Global Operations Manager. This position involves close collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and around the globe.
Duties include:
*Plan and monitor large and complex grants within a matrixed project team
*Create work plans from newly awarded grant proposals and facilitate the resource allocation to project plan in conjunction with the grant lead
*Monitor progress of the team’s work (for complex grants) and communicate with grant manager/grant lead about possible risks to project deadlines
*Monitor and communicate project progress in status reports to primary project stakeholders
*Participate in funder status meetings and facilitate ongoing communication
*Gather all data and narrative content for funder reporting and assist in managing the review process
*Outline and implement best practices and process improvements for the project management team, such as the reviewing workflows, streamlining operations and documenting procedures
*Mentor and support new project managers in project management best practices and process improvement
*Implement templates for Gantt chart creation, managing project requirements, risk management and reporting deadlines
This role requires strong interpersonal skills, competency in verbal and written communication, and exceptional organization. Experience working with global stakeholders is essential. This position requires flexibility and excellent prioritization skills; one who performs well with minimal supervision with the ability to thrive and problem solve in a fast-paced working environment.

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
*Experience supervising a small team
*Experience using a project planning software tool such as Microsoft Projects, Smartsheet, Teamwork
*At least 3 years independently managing medium complexity projects using Waterfall and or Agile project planning
*Bachelor’s degree; at least 5 years’ experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified
