Position Overview:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) seeks an Experienced BI Architect to serve as the Systems Architect for its Enterprise Data and Analytics service (EDA). This individual will serve as the point of contact for the selection, implementation, enhancement and support of software components to update and enhance the UMN Enterprise Data Warehouse. In this capacity, the individual will be responsible to develop and implement a roadmap of strategic enhancements to optimize the integrated analytics capabilities of the University.
About the Job:
This individual will be relied upon for thought leadership in assessing existing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions and for recommending approaches for modernization. The EDA System Architect will also participate in initiatives to implement the updated system components. The individual in this role will work collaboratively across the Enterprise Data Platform ART to align new technologies across data platforms. The EDA System Architect will collaborate across all departments to envision and implement modern data platform architectures to support the University’s growing need for more advanced integrated data and advanced analytics needs.
Job Responsibilities:
Serve as EDA lead on Enterprise Data Platform initiatives
Act as the EDA team technical lead on efforts to evaluate new BI tools to meet the evolving needs of the University
Provide technical leadership on the implement a data lake to replace legacy data query systems
Promote and coordinate reusability and eliminate redundancy on enterprise data platforms
Provide technical expertise and leadership on EDW cloud migration efforts
Assist teammates with resolving complicated design challenges and troubleshooting.
Mentor reporting and analytics team members on new tools and expand skillsets on new BI toolsets
Work effectively with business partners, vendors, and the other OIT partners to deliver projects and services.
Assist in the documentation of Enterprise Data Lineage across analytic platforms
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience, or a Master’s degree and two years of experience.
Experience in the selection, implementation and implementation of new stuff
Background in developing business cases for new tech
Data Fabric
Ability and experience with managing stakeholder expectations.
Experience identifying technology trends and evolving underlying technologies
Experience in development and support of end to end BI environments
Experience with one or more BI tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence or Tableau
Ability to effectively communicate complex structures in a simple fashion to variety of audiences (e.g. project teams, customers, and technical experts).
Preferred:
Advanced degree in advanced data analytics or data science
Experience with Azure data factory
In-depth knowledge of OAS/OAC, Informatica PowerCenter and Informatica Cloud.
Experience with PL/SQL and shell scripting
Experience with Idera ER/Studio or similar tools
Technical project management experience.
