The Department of Economics is seeking a creative, energetic, and innovative person to fill a complex, multi-faceted position. This position serves as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Placement Coordinator, and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department’s Main Office. This position offers autonomy and a chance to grow in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Salary range: $43,000 – $50,000
OFFICE MANAGER – 25%
This position manages the daily operations of the Department of Economics’ main office. They are the first point of contact in interpreting department polices and updates them when needed. They independently review and update department procedures to improve efficiencies and respond to changes in technologies. They are responsible for maintaining department space, supplies, and facilities. Assists the Chief of Staff in solving operational problems. Collaborates with the Chief of Staff in managing the supplies budget.
UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM COORDINATOR – 25%
This position is responsible for operational details of the Economics undergraduate program. The UPC supports the Department Chair, Director of Undergraduate Studies, and the Curriculum committee in determining and implementing the curriculum and is independently responsible for executing those decisions. The UPC assists the advisors in delivering outstanding student services. The UPC also manages the course proposal and consultation process.
PLACEMENT COORDINATOR – 15%
As the placement coordinator, this position has full responsibility for the annual economics job search process for graduating Ph.D. students. Assists faculty by editing and submitting letters of reference and develops relationships with recruiters at universities and organizations all over the world. This position seeks out and integrates new technologies and procedures in the placement process.
SUPERVISION – 25%
This position supervises one full-time Executive Office and Administrative Specialist (1885) with full authority and also supervises undergraduate student employees.
OTHER/SPECIAL PROJECTS – 10%
This position will work on special projects for the department They will also assist with faculty searches, visa applications and permanent residency applications, promotion and tenure processes and provide back up to the Chief of Staff when needed.
