This is a tenure track faculty position. The College of Education and Human Service
Professions and the Department of Education seek an educator of excellence, committed to anti-racist pedagogy and social justice. This
faculty position consists of teaching courses in the Physical Education Teacher Education Adapted Physical Education program to both
pre-service and practicing teachers; advising students; providing professional, community and university service; and mentoring and
supervising students in field placements. Scholarship that advances the field, including research and publication, is required.
The start date of this position is August 23, 2024.
Required/Essential Qualifications:
Applicants
for the position of Assistant Professor of PE – Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) are required to have:
Preferred Qualifications:
a) A
Demonstrated expertise in Universal Design and Adapted Physical Education
b) Understanding and experience with specialized
activity categories in PE and DAPE such as lifetime outdoor pursuits, adventure education, wheelchair basketball/sports, fitness activities,
and aquatics.
c) Demonstrated teaching success in higher education and mentoring of undergraduate students
d) Research and
teaching expertise with specific focus on PE- Adapted Physical Education
e) Teaching experience in Health Education in P-12 school
settings
f) Demonstrated success working effectively with culturally diverse students, colleagues, and communities, including
intercultural communication skills, awareness of diverse cultural values and beliefs, and willingness to examine your own cultural
biases.
g) Experience, knowledge base and commitment to American Indian or other Indigenous people and communities through research,
teaching, and/or service.
h) Evidence of engaging in P-12 community partnerships
i) Teaching experience in P-12 school
settings
j) Record of published scholarship and successful grant writing
The Department of Applied Human Sciences (AHS) is one
of five departments within the College of Education and Human Service Professions. AHS is the department home to nearly 40 full-time and
part-time faculty members with teaching and research interests in multiple degree programs: Public Health, Physical Education Teacher
Education, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, Childhood Nature Studies, and Environmental and Outdoor Education.
The curriculum of
the degree programs reflects the accreditation standards of the various disciplines. Students graduate from these degree programs with a
Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree. There are currently over 500 majors enrolled in the degree programs offered by the department.
The students in the programs come from Minnesota, Wisconsin, across the Midwest and nationally and internationally. Our department strongly
