Working Title: Workforce Planning Specialist
The Nurse & PA Recruitment and Retention (NRR) Workforce Planning Specialist plays a key role in the support of the NRR Administrative Manager and the daily operations and functions of the NRR department. The core mission of NRR is to recruit the best nurse and PA talent available, based on the needs of the enterprise and retain the Nurse & PA workforce talent. By recruiting and retaining the best talent to Michigan Medicine, we directly impact the quality of care to our patients and families and provide a safe practice environment for our workforce.
This person will be responsible for creating the Workforce Planning Model (WPM) for Nursing at Michigan. This WPM will include:
The NRR Workforce Planning Specialist provides high-level strategic planning for the Department of Nursing.
This role will be critical to address the upcoming expansion and integration plans that include but are not limited to the Pavilion Fall 2025 opening (350-450 incremental RNs will be needed) and the U-M Health, Sparrow and U-M Health West Integration, which are already underway.
The NRR Workforce Planning Specialist will provide high-level strategic planning for the Department of Nursing.
Supervision
General direction is received from Nurse & PA Recruitment and Retention Administrative Manager. Functional supervision may be exercised over Nurse & PA recruiters and other assigned staff.

Required Qualifications*
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health care administration, Human Resources, Public Health, Business, or related field. Master’s degree is highly desired.
Licensure/Certification:
– If a RN, current State of Michigan Board of Nursing licensure is required.

NOTE: This position is currently a hybrid model of (5) days a week requiring in-office work for (4) of the (5) days. This is subject to changed based on departmental needs.
